THEOLOGY – Renovaré stands with historic Christian orthodoxy, affirming both the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds.

MISSION – Renovaré models, resources, and advocates fullness of life with God experienced, by grace, through the spiritual practices of Jesus and of the historical Church.

VISION – Renovaré imagines a world in which people’s lives flourish as they increasingly become like Jesus.

COVENANT - We at Renovaré covenant: "In utter dependence upon Jesus Christ as my ever-living Savior, Teacher, Lord, and Friend, I will seek continual renewal through: spiritual exercises, spiritual gifts, and acts of service."

CORE IDEAS – Through the ministry initiatives mentioned above, Renovaré Canada will pursue the following core ideas:

LIFE WITH GOD - The aim of God in history is the creation of an all-inclusive community of loving persons with God himself at the center of this community as its prime Sustainer and most glorious Inhabitant.

THE AVAILABILITY OF GOD’S KINGDOM - We can experience genuine, substantive life in God’s kingdom through Jesus Christ, beginning now and continuing through all eternity.

THE NECESSITY OF GRACE - We are utterly dependent upon Jesus Christ, our ever-living Savior, Teacher, Lord, and Friend for genuine spiritual transformation.

THE MEANS OF GRACE - Amongst the variety of ways God has given for us to be open to his transforming grace, we recognize the crucial importance of intentional spiritual practices and disciplines (such as prayer, service, or fasting).

A BALANCED VISION OF LIFE IN CHRIST - We seek to embrace the abundant life of Jesus in all its fullness: contemplative, holiness, charismatic, social justice, evangelical, and incarnational. (Foster, Richard. Streams of Living Water: Essential Practices from the Six Great Traditions of Christian Faith. HarperOne: New York, NY, 2001).

A PRACTICAL STRATEGY FOR SPIRITUAL FORMATION - We encourage the creation of Spiritual Formation Groups and other forms of spiritual friendship as solid foundations for mutual support and nurture.

THE CENTRALITY OF SCRIPTURE - We immerse ourselves in the Bible: it is the great revelation of God’s purposes in history, a sure guide for growth into Christlikeness, and an ever rich resource for our spiritual formation.

THE VALUE OF THE CHRISTIAN TRADITION - We are engaged in the historical “Great Conversation” on spiritual formation developed from Scripture by the Church’s classical spiritual writings.

Following are the ministries which are part of the initial vision for Renovaré Canada. Watch for more details under our ministries & events page as these initiatives develop.
  • PARTNERING WITH EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS – Renovaré Canada will partner with educational institutions to offer both individual courses on spiritual formation and a one year Certificate in Spiritual Formation. These courses will highlight the importance of spiritual formation for ministry, the scriptural and historical basis for spiritual formation, and the practical side of spiritual disciplines. These courses will be offered in either a modular or online format, or a combination of both.
  • PARTNERING WITH MINISTERS – Renovaré Canada will offer conferences and retreats with a spiritual formation/soul care emphasis to those in church and para-church ministry. This will provide a time of learning, encouragement and refreshment to those in vocational ministry.
  • PARTNERING WITH THE CHURCH – At the local church level, Renovaré Canada will offer conferences to challenge and equip the members to grow in Christ-likeness as a community.
  • DEVELOPING MINISTRIES BASED ON SPIRITUAL FORMATION – Another avenue through which Renovaré Canada will partner with churches and para-church organizations is to offer training through which they can structure their ministries around a spiritual formation basis.
  • SYMPOSIUM ON CANADIAN CHRISTIAN SPIRITUALITY – Under the umbrella of Renovaré Canada, a symposium on Canadian Christian Spirituality will be formed, bringing together both practitioners and scholars to discuss this topic in the Canadian context. This will result not only in profitable networking and sharing of ideas, but also the possible development of a Canadian periodical on Christian Spirituality.
