A Roundtable discussion is a live, virtual event with a Canadian author around the topic of Spiritual Formation. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from the author, ask questions, and engage in discussion.

Note: We recommend giving yourself plenty of time to pick up the book and read it before the Roundtable date.

Gordon T. Smith, Ph.D, is the president and professor of systematic and spiritual theology at Ambrose University in Calgary, Alberta – where he has served since 2012..   He is also a Teaching Fellow at Regent College, Vancouver, BC.   He is the author of a number of publications, including Evangelical, Sacramental and Pentecostal:  Why the Church Needs to be all Three (IVPress, 2017) and the more recent Wisdom from Babylon:  Leadership for the Church in a Secular Age (IVPress, 2020).   Gordon is married to Joella and together they have two adult sons.

Smith's Called to Be Saints:  An Invitation to Christian Maturity  (IVPress, 2014) provides an overview of the goal of the Christian life – asking what it means to not only become a Christian, but then to grow up and mature in Christ:  that is, to intentionally pursue a Christian vision for human flourishing.   While the heart and soul of this Christian maturity is knowing what it means to be “in Christ”, the elements of maturity include wisdom, love of neighbour, vocational clarity and joy.
